How can I get a free trial of xbox live gold?

I would like to try it before I actually start paying for it because I’m not sure if i will like it. Ive seen that some games come with 48 hour free trials, is there any way I can get one of these without buying a whole game?
If you got and Xbox package that includes live upon creating a file, you can play live for one free month. My cousin has an Xbox Elite and his profile ran out one week when I went over so he created a new profile and had live on it for one free month. I have a profile on his Xbox and play Halo. I’m not sure what you mean by games having free trials because I dont think that games can give you Xbox Live. You need to buy a gold membership card and type in the code. You don’t need to buy the card if you have the free live with new profile package like my cousin has.
Xbox Live is so much fun. $50 a year is worth it. You can play with friends, chat, sent messages, and play with other people. I like playing others on Halo 3. You are missing out on a lot if you are just playing campaign or whatever on the game you want to play on live. Just buy the gold membership card. It’s worth it.
